A little road trip for a Long Vacation

Let me just start by saying that I hate road trips....I hate spending hours in the car sitting there listening to music or talk radio that I don't like and well, I just hate the idea of road trips. Joel on the other hand, wants to retire and become a trucker, driving across country every day of his life....With that said, the drive over to Boise was not that fun....but when driving from Oregon to Idaho, especially through the gorge, the sights are breathtaking and the view almost makes me forget how much I hate traveling. We geocached the entire way, making a seven hour trip a ten-twelve hour trip....ugh! We were excited to have an entire week to spend on vacation this year. It feels weird not working but still getting paid....it is a perk that comes with being in the "real world". We took an entire week plus a few days to travel to Rexburg, Boise and back....during this time, we saw lots of friends, hung out with family, and celebrated Joel's birthday. It is weird to think that we have lived here in Oregon for a year now...time sure does fly!

I love the scenery on that drive. I used to alternate between the "south through Oregon and the Gorge" route and the "north through Montana and Eastern WA" route (which was a shorter trip for me). You'll have to do the northern route next time, you'd LOVE it. The scenery really starts to take your breath away once you hit Northern Idaho and Washington. There is even a wild horse monument on the top of a cliff overlooking a winding river below. WOW!
