Praise to the Man

Reflecting back on the things I have learned from our Dearest Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, words can't even describe the impact he has made on my life. I have grown so much as an individual, my testimony has increased, and my dedication to the church has grown one-hundred fold.

When I heard of the passing of President Hinckley, I was confused and dazed. I wasn't really sure what happened, because I didn't even know that he was ill. But today, as I reflect back on his life and the lessons I have learned from him, I am grateful that his mission on earth was fulfilled an that he is back with his loving wife and family members.

I can only imagine the reunion he has had. Greeted not only by his sweetheart, but by millions of other people, probably including past prophets of old. Never could a reunion of family and friends be as sweet as what President Hinckley has experienced.

Being aware of President Hinckley from the beginning of his service, I am anxious to see the next steps that the church will be taking. We will never be without a prophet again, the Lord has close watch on us and calls those to authority by the power of the priesthood. We must honor President Hinckley by living our lives in accordance to his teachings. We must strive to be better member missionaries, to attend the temples as much as possible, and to heed the words of our apostles and soon to be next prophet.

The show must and will go on, we are never alone, and I am grateful that i was able to build my testimony of the gospel through the help of the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. I have no doubt that he was a true and living Prophet, who spoke with God and his son Jesus Christ, and was divinely guided to lead the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to where it is today.

My heart goes out to the Hinckley family, my prayers are with them, and the apostles as we prepare for a new Prophet, called of God.

"We thank thee, O God, for a prophet
To Guide us in these latter days.
We thank thee for sending the gospel
To lighten our minds with its rays.
We thank thee for every blessing
Bestowed by thy bounteous hand.
We feel it a pleasure to serve thee
And Love to obey thy command.

When dark clouds of trouble hang o'er us
And threaten our peace to destroy,
There is hope shining brightly before us,
And we know that delive'rance is nigh.
We doubt not the Lord nor his goodness.
We've proved him in days that are past.
The wicked who fight against Zion
Will surely be smitten at last.

We'll sing of his goodnes and mercy.
We'll praise him by day and by night,
Rejoice in his glorious gospel,
And bask in its life giving light.
Thus on to eternal perfection
The honest and faithful will go,
While they who reject this glad message
Shall never such happiness know."

(We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet, Hymn 19)

God bless this wonderful man who will be missed by all but remembered with the sweetest of memories. I am so thankful for our dear prophet and may he rest with our heavenly father and his family members and all those who love him.
